General informations about Mühlacker:
Mühlacker is a town with ca. 26 000 inhabitants in the eastern part of the Enz district (in German: Enzkreis), Baden-Württemberg. It is the biggest town and the only town with the title "Große Kreisstadt" in the Enz district, because the city of Pforzheim, where the administration of the district is situated, is an own district (District of the city of Pforzheim, in German: Stadtkreis Pforzheim).
Mühlacker has a direct train connection to Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Pforzheim and the Northern Black Forest (Bad Wildbad). By car you can reach Mühlacker on the national roads B 10 and B 35. The highway A 8 is also not far away from Mühlacker.
Mühlacker is a town since 1930. In Mühlacker you can find a famous transmitter, which was between 1934 and 1945 the tallest tower ever built of wood stood (height: 190 metres). A further landmark of Mühlacker is the watertower. Other important buildings and sights of Mühlacker are the Burg Löffelstelz, the castle of Mühlhausen, and the historical center of the village of Lienzingen with half-timbering houses. The town of Mühlacker (with the quarter Dürrmenz) as well as the quarters of Enzberg, Lomersheim and Mühlhausen are situated on the river Enz. The quarter Lienzingen is situated some kilometers/miles north of the town center and the quarter Großglattbach is situated some kilometers southeast of the town center, close to the district boarder with the district Ludwigsburg. Without the quarter of Lomersheim all quarters and former independent villages have no direct connection with the town centre through streets with buildings. Especially in Mühlhausen and Lienzingen you can also find some vineyards.

The municipalities of Wiernsheim, Niefern-Öschelbronn, Kieselbronn, Ölbronn-Dürrn, Ötisheim, Maulbronn (town) and Illingen (all district Enzkreis) as well as Vaihingen an der Enz (town) and Eberdingen (both district Ludwigsburg) border on the town of Mühlacker.
Town council and mayor:
The town council has currently 37 members, including the mayor Frank Schneider (FDP). The election period for the town council is five years (last election in spring 2009, next election propably in 2014) and the election period for the mayor is eight years. The mayor was elected in automn 2009 and is in office since January 2010.

The political parties and associations in the town council are the CDU (Christian Democratic Union), SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany), Freie Wähler (Free Voters), the Liste Mensch und Umwelt (List human/humankind and environment/nature) and the FDP (Free Democratic Party).
Infrastructure:
Mühlacker has a quite good infrastructure, including a lot of different schools (for example the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium, the Mörike-Realschule, the Ferdinand-von-Steinbeis-Schule, the Georg-Kerschensteiner-Schule and the private Johann- Christoph-Blumhardt-Schule), a cinema, a lot of different doctors and a hospital.
Bassano del Grappa is a town with ca. 40.500 inhabitants in the region of Venice, province Vicenza. Approximately 10 kilometers east of Bassano is situated the province of Treviso and also the provinces Padova and Trento are not far away from Bassano.
The town twinning between Mühlacker (Germany) and Bassano del Grappa (Italy):
Since the year 1978 the towns Mühlacker (Germany) and Bassano del Grappa (Italy) are twin towns/sister cities. Many activities, especially between some associations and of course also between the town administrations have been organised. Some of them are football tournaments, international youth camps and exhibitions. Every year a group from Bassano is visiting Mühlacker for the Straßenfest in September as well as group from Mühlacker goes to the annual Fiera Franca in Bassano in the begin of October. The participants of both towns sell some local products in the twinnend city, for example italian wine and cheese in Mühlacker and german jam and german cakes in Bassano
